A Change of Direction
With only a few weeks until deadline, I have decided to take a shift in direction with my work. Although I adore the script for Blue and still hope to make it a short film at some point, I simply don't have the time to complete it for my coursework. It is a multi-location, multi-cast piece which would require multiple shoots on about three or four different days at the very least, one scene requiring the creation of an artificial party. It was simply too ambitious. Perhaps if I would have started filming a month ago I could have pulled it off, but due to me not keeping an eye on deadlines that simply isn't possible anymore. This is very unfortunate, but the inability to film is also down to the general busy-ness of those I would rely on for this shoot (people to help with sound, actors, general extra crew etc.) and it doesn't make sense to keep relying on other people and have to rely on other people who then determine the success of my work. Regardless, I have to push on and at this point my most realistic option would have to be to switch to a Storyboard and complete my project as a storyboard instead of a complete short film. I have to work to deadlines and I suppose ground myself for the sake of actually handing in something complete. I will reduce the scope of my piece, perhaps still trying to maintain themes and ideas from previous ideas and blog posts but write a new, and longer, script to adapt as a screenplay. This should be very achievable in the next two- three weeks.
